Castles, Historic Centers and Old Villages


You can find a lot of history in Alicante. The Santa Barbara castle is iconic and offers a great view over the city. The casco antiguo, the old neighbourhood at the foot of the castle is worth a walk around.

In the province you can find beautiful historic villages like Guadalest and Altea. Or if you would like to go on a short boat trip, think about a visit to Isla Tabarca.

Gastronomy


If - after a day of activities - you would like to eat well, there are ample options to try. Eat like a local and try some of the rice dishes, like Arroz a Banda, Arroz del señoret or Arroz negro (black rice) prepared with sea food. There are more variaties, like Arroz de montaña (rice from the mountain), Arroz con pata (leg), Arroz al horno (from the oven) and many more. Also tipical are Olleta Alicantina, la Pericana, local seafood dishes or el Caldero (speciality of Isla de Tabarca). Furthermore, there are restaurants of all types: Tapas bars, Italian, Asiatic, Vegetarian restaurants and more.
